ULM Pacific adventure
Two microlight pilots have left Argentina on an ambitious journey through three continents to Australia. Mike Blyth (SA) and Olivier Aubert (CH) are flying from the southern tip of Argentina, up the west coast of south America and North America, before crossing the Baring Straits between Alaska and Russia. They then continue down through Asia and Indonesia to eventually arrive in Tasmania this November after 300 days of adventure.
Mike and Olivier flew wingtip to wingtip on their Cape to Cape expedition from South Africa to Norway. They donÂ’t anticipate the personal feuding that caused Keith Reynolds to part company with Brian Milton in Siberia, half way round their transglobal expedition in 1998.
The pair will fly with polar, marine, jungle and desert survival equipment, but thereÂ’s no mission control back home, so they will be relying entirely on the support of locals where they land.
