Ozone Addict 2 certified in XL size

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The Addict 2 XL is now certified EN C along with the S, M, and L sizes. Ozone says that S, M, and L sizes are now shipped out to all major markets and demos are currently available. See www.flyozone.com for more details.

John Silvester, world renowned Himalayan adventurer, had this to say about it:

“Hi Guys - I just had a flight in some really bad air on the Addict 2 and had to tell you that it is going to be perfect for the Himalayan flying. It’s a great wing… Dav was so right saying it was the wing for me to take for the massive thermals there!”

John is currently in the Himalaya. You can keep up to date on his adventures as they happen, at www.flyozone.com.

Because … out now

Ozone Rush 2 XS and XL sizes certified

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The Rush 2 is now certified EN B in the XS and XL sizes, and Ozone have been receiving great feedback.

Available in four new colour schemes, Ozone say that advancements in profiling and sail tension have increased both the glide performance and the in-flight comfort of the Rush 2 over the original Rush. Rush pilots will notice a higher trim speed, better glide in accelerated flight, and a mellower feel in active air.

See www.flyozone.com for more information.

Chrigel to Infinity and Beyond

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Chrigel Maurer has set a new best world performance for Infinity tumbles. With an Advance acro glider he put 198 continuous rotations together over Grindelwald.

On Sunday morning 25th May, at 9 a.m., 3500 m asl Chrigel jumped from a helicopter above Grindelwald. He then put his Advance acro wing through a series of 198 Infinite Tumbles to set a new world record. While many people would have had to lie in a darkened room for the rest of the day, Chrigel then jumped onto his competition ship to take part in the 1st task of the PWC Grindelwald, finishing in a very credible 4th position! More details soon and of course our congratulations to Chrigel!

Gin Safety Notice

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Gin Gliders have issued the following safety notice:

SAFETY NOTICE
Concerning Boomerang Sport & Yeti 08.

As written in the owner’s manual, the competition models (Boomerang Sport and Boomerang) should be regularly checked, at least every 100 hours of flight or every year.

Similarly for the Yeti: pilots have to check their wing after every 50 hours of flight or every year.
There are additional specific instructions regarding competition Boomerangs, please refer to the user manual:http://www.gingliders.com/downloads/manual.php

We insist that pilots respect these inspection intervals as these gliders are very sensitive to any changes in the line’s breaking strength and/or total line length. The aerodynamics, performance and safety of these models can be affected by changes outside the tolerances set out in the Maintenance Instructions: http://www.gingliders.com/downloads/manual.php

During inspections of Boomerang Sports with 100s of hours of use, we have found that some gliders have lines that have changed outside the tolerances we set for length.

After 100 hours+, some middle lines using material “LIROS DC 120″ can shrink. The changes occur mainly on the D and brake lines.

This line shrinkage can be easily detected during the normal line length check as part of the required inspection after 100 hours or 1 year.

As a precaution, we have decided to offer replacement middle and upper line sets, free of charge, to all owners of Boomerang Sports and Yeti 08s that are fitted with LIROS DC 120 and DC 60.

Please contact your GIN distributor or dealer.
