Leonardo ‘Pro’ instruments
Digifly have released three new updated instruments: the Cartesio Pro Bluetooth, Leonardo Pro and Leonardo pro Bluetooth.
All the instruments come with a new, more powerful rechargeable lithium battery, lasting for 30 flight hours and back-up AA size battery for 20 more hours. The new casing is stronger and features an anti-scratch coating, new anti-reflection display glass and new function-printed command keys.
The 6.2x firmware is new, but fully compatible with the older instruments. The greatest improvement is in the telemetry software, which produces a flight data output ten times per second, which can be transmitted via the Bluetooth connection (or via cable for Leonardo Pro) to a hand-held computer or pocket PC. The data provided is compatible with all the main current real time flight analysis software (e.g. Soaring Pilot, Compe gps, C.Pilot). Tracking information can be sent at the same time via SMS or web server
All the telemetry software, documentation and transmission protocols are open source and available for free.
The new ‘Pro’ family is now the basis for future developments, but will always be kept compatibile with older models. A new lithium battery upgrade kit is in the pipeline, which will dounble the battery life for the older models.
