Montana Vertical, ultralight helmets
New from Montana Vertical is the ultralight (350 g) Jump helmet. Designed to meet the needs of para-Alpinists, it has been EN certified for both skiing and paragliding use.
Because it has a clever adjustor, one size fits all (sizes 53 to 61). The helmet features a removable, washable anti-allergy band on the front, removable ear protectors and a removable ski mask retaining clip. It has a trendy, skatey look and comes in a choice of black, grey & white or snakeskin.
The Jump is in stock at Paratroc, who are based at Doussard, Annecy, France and can be bought online at: www.paratroc.com

I have just bought one of these helmets and am very disappointed by the quality. The band that adjusts is not fitted correctly and is way off centre with 1 side higher than the other. This band looks pretty cheap and nasty too. The helmet liner is also off centre. The review above states an “anti allergy band” this is not true, there is a strip of material that covers the adjuster band that is not anti allergy, looks cheap and is not thick enough to be comfortable. The outer casing and paint looks good but there is little else that looks quality. The Helmet is not 350g either, mine weighs in at 392g with out the ear bits and goggle retainer and 433g with. The fit of the helmet is not great, now this could be my head shape (I committed the cardinal sin of ordering on line without trying it on first, though in my defence I have a fairly average head shape and find no problems with cycle, motorbike or climbing helmets though my head is on the small size) The strap is also difficult to get comfortable, when the ear pieces are in the helmet they have little contact over the ears as the helmet is one size, with the strap done up tight there is still only contact with the lower part, then the strap is unbearable.
I have made my helmet acceptable (I couldn’t be bothered to send it back as it was ordered from abroad and I would of had to pay postage costs) by using the spare inserts and padding from my Petzl climbing helmet and drilling new holes in the fasteners for the headband to get it as straight as possible. Doing this has made the helmet OK though I am still unhappy with the overall quality.

G’day from OZ,
The jump helmet is the best looking and most comfortable fitting helmet I have ever owned. The best feature is the removable ear protectors. Most other helmets in it’s class look like your’ve got an oversized Egg on your haed.
