Billing record
Spring in India has seen some great conditions. In April, Debu Choudhury achieved a site record flight of 211km from Billing – an out & return that is also the Indian record (and a personal best). Several other personal bests were achieved the same day, both in distance and height.
Local pilot Bruce Mills would like to remind visiting pilots that Bir in spring is not necessarily the benign, safe soaring site that it can be in the autumn. There has been a worrying trend for it to be promoted as such in Russia in particular, and several Russian pilots have been seen to be learning forward launches from the site, and ending up in trees all over the valley.
