Following a successful event in 2008, Nova team pilot Steve Nash will be hosting another Ibex ‘Hike and Fly’ weekend on 19 & 20 September 2009. The event will be based around the mountains of Snowdonia in North Wales. The intention is to demonstrate the versatility of this glider by hiking up then flying off some of the spectacular peaks in the area or if it’s too windy for the mountains Steve will take the group to the coast.
The Ibex is a mountain paraglider, which combines small size, pack weight and robust materials with high performance and safety. Beside mountain pilots, Nova say the Ibex is of interest to those who also want to extend their flyable wind range. With its dynamic, responsive and forgiving behaviour, the Ibex offers a lot of fun in various conditions that cannot be experienced with a usual paraglider. There will be Ibex available in all three sizes (15m2 [LTF2-3], 17m2 [LTF2-3] & 19m2 [LTF1-2 <95kg, LTF2 >95kg]).
The places on the weekend are on a first come, first served basis. There will be no charge for the use of the gliders and harnesses, but a £50 deposit will be required beforehand to ensure that people don’t drop out at the last minute. This will be refunded when they turn up at the weekend. For a taste of what to expect, take a look at a video of last year’s event on http://www.vimeo.com/1936509
