The legendary skywalk Night Fever took place for the fourth year in a row on 13 June in Austria’s Bregenzerwald. The super-simple and spectator-friendly competition format just requires that all pilots must be in the air at the pre-determined time (5pm in this case), and the last pilot to land is the winner. Spectators could see the whole event, and local radio celebrity, Reinhard from Antenna Vorarlberg, commentated and amused them.
The competition was over-subscribed, but 93 pilots, divided into three classes, stayed airboirne for as long as they could: Lukaz Ratz won the Amateur class ( LTF 1 and 1-2) and Thomas Ide the Sport class (LTF 2-3). Peter Yung was the top pro class competitor, in the air for 3 hours 45 minutes. Skywalk’s own Michi Schneider was great entertainment value, his Poison being the last Sport class wing in the air but he blew it by performing some pre-victory wingovers and then not making it to the landing field, so being disqualified!
