Araxá Open
The Ynovar team and Clube Araxaense de Vôo Livre (CAVL) invite pilots to the Araxá Open in Brazil. The event, which also serves as the second leg of the Brazilian Nationals, takes place from 3 – 9 October 2009, just before the XC Open World series event the following week.
Organisers say Araxa is a wonderful and welcoming town in the SW corner of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The region is known for its sulphurous and thermal baths and Araxa itself contains one of the most famous thermal resorts in all of Brazil, the Ouro Minas Grande Hotel.
The grassy launch is one of the best flying sites in Brazil, large enough for 20 pilorts to launch at the same time and with a good road network for easy retrieves. Marcelo Prieto holds the site record of 253.5 km.
