Women’s Paragliding Distance World Record Falls in Brazil

Kamira Pereira, 323 km in Brazil
Brazil’s Kamira Pereira has flown a record-beating 323 km from Quixada, north east Brazil. If ratified by the FAI the flight, which took place on 8 November, will be a new women’s world record.
Czech pilot Petra Krausova is the current women’s world record holder. She flew 302.9 km from the same site on 18 November 2005.
Quixada in the state of Ceara is famous for its record breaking distances and attracts pilots from around the world every November when potential record-breaking conditions set up. Marcelo Prieto, Rafael Saldini and Frank Brown, all Brazilian pilots, flew a world record distance of 461.6 km here on 14 November 2007.
And Andre Wolf (BR) holds the South American hang gliding record of 452 km from the same site.
The XC International, a month long team cross country event is on at Quixada now, from 20 October to 20 November. It is followed immediately by the XCeara 2009 Cross Country Classic, from 21 – 29 November.
Kamira has been flying for 15 years and is a Sol team pilot. Muito bom, Kamira!
