Italians to use DSX Safly System in competitions

Tuesday 8 December, 2009

DSX Safly version B, now in production as of April 2010

DSX Safly is a GPS tracking device which can be used to track hang glider and paraglider pilots in real time.

The instrument has obvious safety benefits to all pilots, but the Italians are proposing using it in competitions, where it would not only offer increased safety, but spectators could watch the competition in real time, retrieve teams would know where pilots were when they landed and it could even be used to score the competition, giving almost instant results once a task is over.

Flavio Tebaldi, organizer of the 2010 hang glidig pre world cup and the 2011 world cup in Italy, is very keen to make its use mandatory in all the Italian league competitions starting from 2011. During the last Italian Championship in Parma, all the pilots agreed they would buy a Safly unit if it cost no more than 250€ and five of their team tested it out in the Laragne Worlds this year with great success.
