Beach Blast 2010 – Florida beach party with paragliding
John Black and friends invite all paramotor and paraglider pilots and friends to join them to ‘Fly in Paradise’ on 6 – 9 May, at the 2010 Beach Blast event on Florida’s Edgewater beach resort (Panama City beach).
Over 300 people attended the first Beach Blast last year, of which 200 were pilots. This year organisers promise an even bigger and better event, with choreographed acrobatic shows and skills clinics to help improve your flying and confidence.
You can enrol on an over-the-water SIV course run by Red Bull pilot ‘Super Fly‘ Chris Santacroce.
Chris will also be joining fellow red Bull pilot Othar Lawrence, ‘Super Dell’ Schanze and other surprise guests in Holy Moly, “the most extreme, exciting paramotor aerobatics show on planet Earth!”
There will also be equipment for sale and for rent, and a free field propeller repair service for paramotor pilots: If you damage your prop and it can be fixed in the field it will be done free of charge.
Organisers say, “EVERYONE is welcome at Beach Blast 2010, from beginners to advanced pilots. There will be something for everyone here and some of the best pilots in the country and from around the world attending. If you are a newer pilot there will be many experienced pilots and instructors that will be glad to assist you so that you feel safe and supported”.
They only ask that you respect your own and other people’s safety, and have a great time.

It looks like I’ll competing for the first time since Italy. I couldn’t fly at the Paratoys event since I ran it, but now Eric Dufour will play Competition Director. John Black is the driving force of both this competition and the event, a rather amazing second running of the public beach Fly-in near Panama City, FL.
Having Eric as comp directly means another thing: someone else is gonna win! Eric is the USA’s winningest pilot and, after seeing his Paratoys cloverleaf, he would have won that, too. But he’s not competing (honoring a promise to his wife). Plus, the entire judge team is exquisite. CC Moisant is sharing the Judging responsibility with Eric’s wife, Elisabeth who, besides being skill pilots, are extremely dedicated to being accurate and fair. That’s what we need. I’ve worked with them as an organizer and competitor, (been DQ’d by them, too), and have always been impressed by their drive.
