Big days out at US paragliding comp
The USA’s Paragliding East Coast Championship has seen some big distances flown on the Florida flats. The first task was a 171 km race to goal but Andy Macrae (USA) won the day and carried on to make 186 km, a new state record.
The second task was an even more ambitious 205 km race to goal at Quest Air, the well-known airfield and hang glider tow site. No one made goal but Andy again won the day with a flight of 115 km.
Andy reports it is his, “first time in Florida and first time east of the Mississippi River.”
Organised ever year by David Prentice the comp runs until 8 May. Pilots start at Florida Ridge, near La Belle in the south of Florida.
