US pilots Josh Cohn (Niviuk Icepeak) and Nick Greece (Ozone R10.2) came first and second in the Chelan round of the PWC, that was held from 18 – 24 July. Yasushi Kobayashi (JP, Gin) was third. Venezuelan Joanna Di Grigoli (Niviuk) topped the female listings ahead of the US’s Melanie Pfister (Gin) and Nicole Mclearn (Gradient).
The event was the last of the American rounds, and Josh Cohn and Joanna Di Grigoli are also the American Open Champions for 2010.
The competition, the sixth round of the 2010 PWC series, was described by organisers and participants as “epic”. There were six good tasks, of 77.9 km – 152.9 km in length, with strong thermals and pilots racing hard.
The PWC website is packed with information about the tasks, including maps, and Philippe Broers has been out and about with his video camera again. You can see his videos, including interviews, there or on www.vimeo.com. Above is one of his videos, from task 4.
