Aircross‘ U52 is a two-line competition paraglider, which word has it could give Ozone’s Mantra R10.2 a run for its money.
Designed by Herve Corbon (‘Gibus’), whom Aircross credit with the creation of the first useable two-line competition glider back in 2005 (the U32), the U52 uses 33% less line than the U4, and the company say its performance is “simply outstanding”.
Aircross have used technologies including their second generation arc system, Gin’s Rigifoil and mini rips on the trailing edge. Due to a lot of reinforcement, the glider is heavy (8.3 – 9.5 kg, depending upon size) but word on the forums is that it launches fine nevertheless.
Germany’s Marc Wensauer, Greg Blondeau (FR) and Philippe Broers (BE) are all flying the U52 and Aircross’ manager Konrad Görg flew one into second place in the first task of the Trofeo Monte Grappa 2010 and seventh overall.
The following is some video from Vimeo user Waga Prod, of a 72km flight in the Alsace region of France aboard a U52.
