Part of the XC-Open World Series, the Manilla XC-Camp will take place from 24 January to 3 February 2011. Registration is free, as is the online scoring: you simply fly as far as you can from Mt Borah, between these dates.
XC-Camp has no meet director, no task setting committee, no signing in and out, no window times etc. You and your retrieve team are free to choose your launch time and route to suit the conditions. The XC potential of the site is clear: Godfrey Wenness flew a 335 km Open Distance World record in 1998, and that flight is still the Australian record twelve years later.
There are some social events lined up though: talks at the camp fire, a BBQ with live music and the sharing of expert advice on flying from Mt. Borah, good XC routes to take and more.
Organisers thank Godfrey Wenness and the Manilla Sky-Sailors club for making the event possible. You can order your event T-Shirt, pictured below, from Godfrey, whose contact details are here. T-shirts cost AU$25 (around €19) or polo shirts AU$32 (€24).
