Axispara's new EN D paraglider, the Venus III
Axispara have a new Venus III paraglider in the pipeline. Replacing the Venus II it will be classified EN D.
The Venus III borrows technology from Axispara’s competition wing, the Mercury III, and has “the same friendly handling” that made the Mercury “such a popular glider choice with both cross country and competition pilots”.
Performance-wise, the company say it will be at the top of the EN D category, but will “easily” pass the tests for this rating, hopefully later this month.
A 3-line concept, the Venus III has similar line consumption to the MercuryIII. The lines are a combination of unsheated Liros Dyneema and Cousin Vectraline, and this has markedly reduced drag compared to the Venus II. Axispara say this can be seen by its improved speed and glide.
The company say the latest 6.95 aspect rartio prototypes have a glide ratio of 10.5 and a top speed of 63 km/hr. The video below shows a prototype being put through its paces in testing.
The Venus III will be available in 5 sizes, for 60 – 145 kg all-up weights.
