U-Turn’s Ernst Strobl, in collaboration with top acro pilots such as Pál Tákats and Gábor Kézi, have evolved their hugely acclaimed Thriller into what they say is an even better Thriller 2K11.
The company claim the Thriller 2K11 has such outstanding dynamics yet is even more stable and stronger than before, that a new move, namely SAT to infinity tumbling and back to SAT on the opposite side, is now possible for the first time.
The 2K11 has a new outline and an aspect ratio of 5.7. The trailing edge has been totally redesigned and the Automatic Flight Stabilization system tweaked to make the canopy a tad less aggressive, giving the pilot longer to react and make the right inputs.
The nose of an acro wing is subject to very high loads, and U-Turn have reinforced it with synthetic rods, and found ways to distribute some of the load across the wing. Additional valved air inlets on its top surface help maintain internal pressure.
The Thriller 2K11 is also reinforced with Insignia tape on each line attachment point, and 10mm nylon tape crosses the entire span of the glider helps load distribution and stability.
The wing is available in six sizes, from 15 to 22m2. See the chart on their website to work out which is the right size for you.
