The Edge XR is UP’s new two-line, open-class competition paraglider.
Despite the name, UP say it has nothing in common with the original Edge except for its purpose: to be at the leading edge of competition paragliding.
It has an aspect ratio of eight and nylon battens throughout the profile ensure that two sets of lines on each riser are enough to support it.
The Edge XR has been built for speed, but fitted with trimmers so you can slow it down in the weaker stuff.
UP believe the Edge XR could be “the most well-rounded and harmonious comp wing currently available”, but warn that it is not for beginners, and its impressive top speed of 70 km/hr should be approached with caution.
The glider comes in four sizes, with optimum take-off weights from 83 to 122 kg. It comes with UP’s ergonomic rucksack, a concertina bag and compression tape.
