Little Cloud's new mountain paraglider, the Kagoo
Mini-wing specialists, Little Cloud, have unveiled a new mountain paraglider, the Kagoo.
The 18.5m2 wing is “not just a lighter Spiruline”, but has been designed for serious hike-and-fly pilots, something the Little Cloud team are passionate about.
With tricky mountain launches in mind, the Kagoo was designed to be easy to use, to lay out the lines and to inflate. Thicker Dyneema lines but narrow risers make it easy to lay out, and the lines snag less than thinner ones. They form a pyramid at the wingtips, giving a compact feeling, and making for easy nil wind launches.
The wing is made from 28g/m2 Dominico Tex fabric on top and bottom surfaces, which the company say is very durable and tear-resistant.
The Kagoo is definitely not just for fly-downs, but has the performance to enable its pilot to maximise airtime and distance. Little Cloud say it performs well in thermic air, with a glide ratio of 8:1, and the controls are gentle yet precise, while trimmers mean it has a good speed range.
At 18.5m2 Little Cloud say the Kagoo is an ideal size for most mountain pilots. It weighs only 2.9kg, so can be carried anywhere, and is ideal for traveling. We’re approaching vol-et-ski season in the Alps, and the company say the Kagoo is perfect for that too.
It’s not the first, but this paraglider is actually named after a flightless bird! The Cagou is a grey, crested bird and the national emblem of New Caledonia. A ground-living bird, the Kahoo could do with learning to fly in order to escape its predators. Little Cloud have named the Kagoo in its honour, and with it they aim to give the opportunity of flight to people who need to escape and explore the world.
The Kagoo is EN 926-1 load tested, and costs €2,350.
