Australian Rohan Holtkamp has won the Forbes Hang Gliding Pre-Worlds 2012, which finished on Saturday 14 January.
Organisers heralded the ten-day event a huge success, with “hundreds of kilometres flown, many happy pilots, no accidents and just heaps of fun all round”.
The weather was kind, just one day being lost to strong winds.
As well as the Pre-Worlds, an A-Class and a Sports Class were also scored. The A-Class is for pilots that have never been in the top 100 WPRS (CIVL world ranking system), and pilots fly the same elapsed time tasks as the main event. These were between 128 and 217km.
The Sports Class category is for kingposted gliders and less experienced pilots. Tasks for this category were shorter, between 53 and 98km, and the launch window was later.
