Colombian Julian Andres Carreño has won the pre-Paragliding World Cup event in Roldanillo which finished on Saturday. He flew an Ozone R10 in this Open Class event.
Bolstering Roldanillo’s reputation as an excellent paragliding competition venue, tasks were flown on seven out of seven days over the period of  8 – 15 January 2012.Â
The odd overnight thunderstorms and morning low cloud or even rain  eventually gave way to blue skies filled with textbook cumuli, and the Valle del Cauca hosted race-to-goal tasks every day, ranging in distance from 44 to 105km.

Scroll to Day 3 to find out about self-confessed Ukrainian “strong girl” Olga Yarochevska’s adventure, in which she was sucked into a cloud before enduring an accidental SIV sequence and a reserve ride, from which she thankfully emerged intact just metres from high-voltage power lines. She picked herself up and cracked on with a four-hour descent, finishing in the dark, before finally calling the organisation to say she was OK.
