The Austrian ski paradise of Stubai near Innsbruck in Austria is hosting its annual Paragliding Cup and Testival from 2-4 March 2012.
As well as the exhibition and testival that take place in the Elfer landing field, there will be air shows, a Fun Cup competition which is open to all, and a World Cup Accuracy competition.
Hosted by Austrian school Parafly, pilots at the event have at their disposal the takeoff mountains of the Elfer in Neustift, and the Kreuzjoch, both of them offering 1,000m top-to-bottoms. Gondolas provide easy eaccess, and between them they provide takeoffs for every wind direction.
If you enter the Stubai Fun Cup, you’ll automatically be entered into the raffle – and there are some great prizes, the top one being a paraglider from any of the participating vendors. Two Stubai Safaris, flying trips to South Africa, worth 500 Euros each are in the pot as well as many other great prizes. The raffle takes place at 4pm on the Sunday in the landing field.
Evening entertainment includes the Saturday night party, and a “100-minute multimedia show” featuring Chrigel Maurer and Thomas Theurillat on their Red Bull X-Alps 2011 victory.
All-in-all a great event is promised for 2012, and this year it will be dedicated to the memory of Parafly’s founder Hans-Peter Eller, who started the Stubai Cup competition in 1988.
