World Hang gliding record falls – twice – in Namibia

If his claim is ratified, Spaniard Carlos Punet has taken the World hang gliding out-and-return distance record to 388.6km with a flight from Burgsdorf, Namibia on 9 January 2012.
Carlos was already the holder of the record, for a 354.4km flight on 11 January 2010. He lost it for just two minutes though on 9 January 2012, when Frenchman Patrick Chopard extended it to 386.09km, landing just two minutes and two kilometres earlier than Carlos.
Carlos’ 388.6 kilometres took him eight hours and 41 minutes.
