Got $25? Then you too can fulfil your dreams and become a movie producer.

Los Rodriguez is the latest film project from the Rodriguez bothers, Felix and Raul, and will be a 47-minute documentary that tells the story of one of the most influential families in paragliding.

in 1987 Felix ‘Papa’ Rodriguez opened his paragliding school in Albacete, Spain. He taught his sons to fly, who went on to become the most influential figures in acro, helping to build the sport into what it is today.

Now, Herminio Cordido, the South American film maker and pilot, is hoping to make a movie about the Rodriguez family, charting the remarkable rise of acro over 25 years.

And he’s asking the paragliding world to get involved, and help crowd-fund the production costs of $25,000 through Indie filmmaking website Indiegogo.

He’s hoping to raise the $25,000 in the next three weeks, from pilots and the industry, and is offering the chance to get involved from $25 – for which pilots will get a fully featured DVD, with behind the scenes and bonus extras, before the movie has even had its first official screening.

From there, there are five more levels of funding – $50, $100, $200, $300 and $1,000 – each offering different levels of thanks, credit and goodies.

For example, for $50 you get the DVD, plus a unique T-shirt and stickers. Then for $100 you get a DVD autographed by the Rodriguez brothers plus the T-shirt and stickers, right up to $1,000 which gets you the title of Executive Producer on the movie plus 20 DVDs.

Herminio is a professional filmmaker in South America, and is best known in the paragliding world for the classic Never Ending Thermal, which he starred in as well as helped make. He also entertained thousands with his video reports from last year’s Superfinal in Mexico, including the big hit of the Bloopers clips:

In recent years crowdfunding has become an alternative way to fund independent movie projects that wouldn’t otherwise get made. The decline of the DVD market and the rise in online piracy and free distribution means low-budget films can no longer rely on selling DVDs to cover their cost. Instead they ask the community that will most benefit from, or enjoy it the most, to help fund it.

Cross Country has signed up as a media supporter to Los Rodriguez and will be helping to spread the word about this unique project. Herminio is aiming to raise $25,000 by 26 September so that the project can then go ahead.
