British pilots Steve Nash and Dean Crosby have completed an 18 day hike-and-fly across the full length of the Pyrenees.
The pair started on the French side on the Atlantic coast and arrived in Roses, Spain, on the Mediterranean on 8 September.
Both pilots flew Nova Ion 2 Lights, a lightweight version of the EN B Ion. Steve is a Nova Team pilot and Dean is a Nova dealer in the UK, hence the tie-up.
However, it wasn’t all hiking up and taking off – poor weather meant the pair had to walk two-thirds of the distance. Point-to-point the total distance is 438km, from the west to east coast, and the pair managed to fly a total of 118km in nine flights.
Steve is no stranger to big distances – he competed in the 2011 Red Bull X-Alps and is an elite mountain runner.
