Advance have a reputation for clean lines, simplicity and quality. Their latest glider is the Epsilon 7 a mid-range EN B. Marcus King flew it this summer and reviewed it in the November/December 2013 issue of Cross Country (issue 150).

One thing I have noticed over the years is that your mood or the air on a particular day can really affect how you feel about a wing. It’s one of the reasons we like to fly the wings for a good period of time over a number of days in different conditions.

On my first flight with the Epsilon I turned up to our local launch pad full of optimism and with a harness packed for a night or two out in the wilds of the French Alps. I was heading to Annecy for a family holiday thought I could try and fly there over a couple of days or so.

Thirty minutes later though I got a call asking me to head home. The car had a problem and our holiday was postponed. So while my friends headed west, sneaking over the back to a better looking sky, I headed east into a stable airmass and home. Not the most auspicious start.
