Get to Goal: How to get comp flying right first time

Get to Goal

Get to Goal

“Competitions are great for learning fast and seeing what is possible on any given day,” says Jonny Durand, multiple Australian hang gliding champion and winner of numerous comps around the world.

“You get to fly with lots of pilots and learn from watching others.”

The old adage that you’ll learn more in a week flying a competition than you will a whole season flying XC can hold true.

Do it right and you’ll come home motivated and loaded with new knowledge.

Do it wrong however, and it can be dispiriting.

In the latest issue of Cross Country magazine we asked pilots who’ve seen it all to explain how to get competition flying right first time.

The full article across eight pages is out now, in Cross Country issue 153 (May / June 2014).
