Little Cloud have replaced the original Spiruline range with the Spiruline EZ, and it’s available in a big range of small sizes, from 9 (yes, really) to 24m2.
The company say they make the Spiruline EZ “100% for pleasure”. They say it is easy to set up, lightweight but durable, playful, intuitive and direct. Its only limits, say Little Cloud, are the pilot’s imagination.
LC say that making the Spiruline EZ a three-liner has reduced line consumption by 15%, and some weight has been shaved by the new-design attachment points.
The glider feels more compact and the span wobble of the original has almost disappeared, so it feels nicer and more confidence-inspiring on glide, and has half a point better glide ratio. Handling is more progressive, so the glider feels more intuitive and precise.
The weight and pack volume is also slightly smaller by approximately one glider size (so the L is now the weight and packed volume of the old M, etc.).
A low aspect ratio and larger cells make it more collapse-resistant, and the brake travel is long, with a very heavy point before the deep stall point.
Now to the sizes: the more you load it, the more dynamic it is. So the L and XL (20.5 and 24m2) sizes are very versatile, and suitable for anyone looking for a fun, stable wing; You can thermal and soar with them, hike & fly and travel with them, and give them to complete beginners to learn on. These sizes are EN B certified.
Sizes M and L (16 and 18m2) are load-tested only. They will most likely be a second glider for a more experienced pilot; they are super fun to fly, intuitive, direct and safe, and can be used for hike & fly, soaring, thermalling, skiing, or as a main glider for very light pilots. The risers on these sizes have 5cm trims.
The XS and S sizes (9 and 12.5m2) are extreme sizes: hyper reactive, hyper precise, fast and full of energy, they are only for very experienced pilots for high-wind soaring and speedriding. The risers have 9cm trim. These sizes are load-tested only.
