Chrigel Maurer has moved back to Advance and will be working on the development of Advance 2015 Red Bull X-Alps equipment, according to the company.
Chrigel, who has won the X-Alps three times, will be flying an Advance wing and harness in the 2015 race.
Advance’s marketing director, Valery Chapuis, said that Chrigel would be free to fly another brand of wing in competition flying. Advance do not currently make a competition paraglider.
“He might fly Gin, like his brother Michael does, or he might fly Ozone. It will be up to him,” Valery said.
Chrigel grew up close to the Advance HQ in Switzerland and flew for the brand for years. He won the 2009 and 2011 X-Alps flying an Advance wing before switching two years ago. He flew Ozone in the Red Bull X-Alps 2013.
In the Advance statement Chrigel said: “I’m very happy with this comeback! For me Advance represents the best platform for another successful X-Alps participation. I live nearby, and can be closely involved in developing my own equipment.”
Advance said Chrigel has been flying their new high-end EN B, the Iota, while leading a tour in South Africa.
“He was there with a group of pilots to offer them the benefit of his knowledge and experience, and will continue to do this alongside his involvement with Advance.
“He will also pursue his own projects which include his work as a personal trainer,” the company said, adding, “Welcome back Chrigel!”
