Razeebuss, makers of electric ‘auxiliary units’ for paragliders, will be releasing their latest offering, the Radicall, in Spring 2015.
Based on a Supair Skypper pod harness, it’s a carbon chassis supporting a Flytec E-Drive HPD10 unit with a folding propeller from Electric Sport.
The main purpose of these auxiliary units is to prolong a thermal flight: the propeller folds away when not in use so it doesn’t destroy the aerodynamics of your harness, and can be used when it’s needed to avoid a potential landing situation and keep you airborne.
The power unit doesn’t affect any other aspects of the Skypper harness, which has the same speed bag, integrated reserve, speedbar etc as an off-the-shelf Skypper.
Following flight tests in the South of France (see the video below) Razeebuss say they are very pleased the unit has exceeded their expectations in terms of efficiency and power – it offers an impressive 60kg thrust.
The total weight of the harness and power unit (including a reserve) is 27 kg, 10kg of which is the LIPO battery pack.
