Fly Piedrahita have sent us this video explaining the latest incarnation of the rather natty live tracking setup that they will be using for their fly-guiding in 2015.
(Fans of Dauntless Dan might recognise the style of Bristolian cartoonist extraordinaire aka Fly Piedrahita’s very own Steve Ham).
All Fly Piedrahita clients are supplied with GPS trackers, so retrieve drivers can see the location and status of each pilot on a tablet in the vehicle. The trackers are connected via the Livetrack24 server, which also allows excellent post flight analysis on the livetrack24.com website.
The guide flies with a simpler smartphone interface, and there is now a special client version of this for pilots who are so inclined to see how the rest of the group has progressed and the location of the retrieve bus. It is designed to use the minimum amount of data, and with lowering data roaming charges in Spain, Steve Ham says it is pretty cheap to operate.
