AirDesign’s new cross-country glider, the Volt 2, has been certified EN and LTF C in the M size, the first of five planned sizes.
The company say:
The VOLT 2 is the ideal glider for XC-orientated pilots who are looking for a high-performing wing, packed to the brim with cutting-edge design technology.
The Volt 2 features race lines and a completely new line geometry, using less lune overall. There are now only two main lines on each line level (2A, 2B, 2C), which reduces the total line length (29m/10% @size M), which reduces drag and greatly improves performance.
The implementation of a prominent sharknose has increased stability, and AD say ballooning has been reduced by using double 3D cut cloth on both top and bottom sails. Vortex holes at the tips and outside cell trailing edges are said to diffuse vortex drag by releasing redundant pressure.
AD say:
The glider remains extremely balanced in moving air and demonstrates improved climbing characteristics, especially in headwind tasks.
The design team say the Volt 2 offers outstanding outer limit performance without pushing the limits of the EN-C category.
The Volt 2 is available in three standard colours, and custom colours.
