Little Cloud Grasshopper

Top marks to Little Cloud for producing this bright little gem of a harness

When I opened the box my first impression was ‘it’s green, it’s very, very green!’ Open it up and it’s bright pink on the inside, just like you’ve cut it open. The guys at Little Cloud certainly have a sense of humour. Turning up on take-off and with the orange jacket I wear I was instantly dubbed the ‘fruit pastille’ – a particularly bright kind of confectionary.

It’s not just the colour that marks it out from the rest of the crowd – the harness has some eye-catching design features too. First off, the reserve is front-mounted. This is a bonus as you can easily find it and throw it with either hand.

Often front-mounted reserves can be awkward though, as you have to remember to fasten the reserve attachments every time you get into the harness. Little Cloud have come up with a clever design that combines the reserve bridles with the chest strap attachments.

To close the harness you only have to clip a loop into the karabiner on each side – there are no extra buckles, saving weight. This action closes the leg loops and chest strap and attaches the reserve at the same time. All you then need to do is clip the pod closed.

The reserve housing is closed by plastic wires running from the handle through a series of loops around the container, opening completely when you yank the handle…
