The French Paramotor Championships that were to take place in Chauvigny, France from 30 September to 4 October 2015 have been cancelled.
The decision follows the deaths of an experienced ULM pilot and her passenger on 27 September during a ULM competition at the same airfield.
The accident took place on the last day of the four-day Classic Championships. The pilot, a 47-year-old woman, and her 50-year-old passenger had been flying at 30 metres altitude during a task when something went wrong, and their aircraft crashed into the ground. An investigation is underway into the causes.
Pierre-Henri Lopez of the Fédération Francaise d’ULM (FFPLUM) called off the Paramotor Championships in a statement, saying:
Under the circumstances and in this period of mourning, the Federation has decided to cancel the paramotor competition which was to have taken place this week.
We join the FFPLUM in offering our condolences to the families of the victims.
