Andrew Williams, winner of the Ozone Chabre Open and also of the raffle prize of a brand new Ozone paraglider from the same competition, is auctioning his prize on eBay, with all proceeds going to Parkinsons Research UK.
The eBay auction finishes on 17 September 2015, so get bidding and you could get yourself a bargain, brand new wing, while at the same time helping a charity who are working to “find a cure and improve life for people affected by Parkinson’s disease”, a progressive neurological condition that affects 1 in 500 people (UK figures).
Andrew Williams says:
I was incredibly lucky to have my name pulled out of the hat for the free Ozone glider. We have such freedom in the skies, while others are physically limited. My father suffers from Parkinson’s and I thought it would be fitting to raise some money to support the main UK Parkinson’s charity.
Unbeknownst to me there were others in the comp that had felt the pain of Parkinson’s in their lives – all the more fitting then to have selected this charity.
It has taken me a wee while to get this auction running due to my daughter arriving on the scene a little earlier than planned.
Now it is coming to the end of the European season, perhaps it is time to flog your old glider, select your dream glider for next season, and do some good for charity.
Ozone have some cracking wings – I particularly like their lightweight models – the latest Swift or Alpina models would be where I would be looking. However, it is up to the winner of the auction to select the wing of their choice. There are a couple of limitations – the wing selected will be of standard colours and cannot be a tandem or competition wing. I would assume that a paramotor wing would also be a suitable choice.
I hope this all makes sense to folks and is a fair way of doing things.

The next edition of the Ozone Chabre Open will take place from 2-8 July 2016. Registration opens online on 21 February 2016.
