Team Mag Aviron won the fifth Red Bull Elements multi-discipline adventure race that took place at Annecy on 19 September.
The team, made up of rower Matthieu Androdias, mountain runner Cédric Fleureton, paraglider pilot Hervé Franchino and mountain biker Christophe Bassons, won with a total time of 4h 42m 10s, beating team Mennen into second place by a margin of just one-and-a-half minutes!
X-Alps athletes Aaron Durogati (Team Mennen) and Chrigel Maurer (Team Extreme Elite) scored the fastest two times in the paraglider scorings, with top athletes in all disciplines among the 63-team lineup.
27 women took part in the event, almost doubling last year’s 15 female entrants – still a small proportion of the 252 participants, but a positive increase.
The paraglider pilots had two take-offs, a lot of running and a raft landing to negotiate. Small wings were the order of the day for fast descents, and a good crowd of spectators loudly appreciated both the successful raft spot-landings and the inevitable near-misses and soakings.
