AirDesign’s EN/LTF-D Pure3 emerged from the drawing board of the Pure2 before all the sizes were even finished. It’s a high-performance cross-country wing wing with an aspect ratio of 6.98.
During the test and development phases for these other sizes [of the Pure2], we were able to find many new innovations and improvements. It was a difficult decision, but we have elected instead of certifying the remaining sizes that we would recertify the Pure2 M and evolve it to the next level. Enter the Pure3.
The primary design goal was to create a glider with the best performance possible, with an aspect ratio of under 7.0. The Pure3 is more efficient and with a higher top speed (+2-3km/h at full speed) than the Pure2 had, both of which improve its into-wind glide.
The Pure3 is a complete 2-line conceptual construction. Just the C-lines are collected by an additional main line (incorporating a 2-line construction with 3 line-levels).
The Pure 3 has a more pronounced sharknose and double 3D-cut. Vortex Holes® at the tips and outside cell trailing edges work to diffuse vortex drag by releasing redundant pressure, further improving performance.
AirDesign add that the Pure3 is also more agile, with reduced brake pressure and turns with a smooth, efficient turn, and its collapse behaviour is also improved.
Sizes SM, M and L are certified EN/LTF-D, covering a weight range of 80-120kg.
