Balancing the load

Fact 1: The paraglider kit is usually stowed and carried in a rucksack just as it used to be ten years ago.
Fact 2: Paragliders are heavier and bulkier than they used to be ten years ago.
Fact 3: Harnesses are heavier and bulkier than they used to be ten years ago.
Fact 4: Fact 2 and 3 have mainly resulted in a demand for larger rucksacks.
Fact 5: Bending the upper torso forward results in an increased pressure in the discs of the spinal column, even more so if the torso is twisted at the same time.
Subjective impression by the author: A slipped disc is very painful and annoying

It is by no means absolutely necessary to continue carrying the flying kit the same way it was done ten years ago.
I myself have after suffering a slipped disc tried to carry it in a more balanced way. I now prefer that way, and it may be worth mentioning.

In the glider rucksack I carry only the glider itself, packed loosely in a large bag, and in the outer pockets of the rucksack the helmet and other small items.
On the contrary, the harness, front mounted reserve and some garments are carried in another large bag in front of the chest, thus eliminating the need to bend forward because the whole load is concentrated on the back
