BIG AIR IN MANILLA…

After a long winter drought, summer has arrived with “still” no rain in sight.
Pilots have been greeted with the most radical conditions in years..
Few local pilots, like Enda Murphy and Rhett Rockman had 8.5 to 9.5 m/s climb with cloud base as high as 4600m, 600mts higher than anyone has ever done in Manilla and probably the highest ever in AustraliaÂ…. Solid dust devil as high as 3000mÂ…. and finally, some sink as fast as 7m/s.!!!!
And we are only in November!
Do I need to say more?
Expectations for cross-country this summer are pretty good!

WHAT THEY PREDICT:
· Enda MURPHY (3 times Australian champion) :”..Get high, fly far…”
· Rhett ROCKMAN (current Australian champion): “.. ItÂ’s going to be an unbelievable season. Because itÂ’s so dry, the base is so high! ThereÂ’re already huge thermals out there! ItÂ’s very possible for big distances this summer.. and weÂ’re talking record distances! Towing seems to be the way to do it too.” (For more info on towing with Rhett send email to:racingrhett@bigpond.com )
· Godfrey WENNESS (335kms record holder):”It’s one in a life time drought…. The flying conditions are strong but excellent for Xcountry…A few days ago, I flew 160kms in 3hrs…”

(A quick thanks to Enda for his help!!!)
