The eighth edition of the Red Bull X-Alps kicks off on 2 July 2017, with 31 athletes hoping to break Chrigel Maurer’s run of four consecutive wins.

Chrigel will be on the start line again as well, this time with Tobias Dimmler as his supporter; the field of 32 athletes have come from far and wide to compete – Austria and France each have four athletes in this year’s event, and the USA have three; non-Europeans include Claudio Heidel Schemberger from Argentina (2nd X-Alps), and David Liano Gonzalez of Mexico (1st X-Alps); Chikyonga Ha will be representing South Korea, also his second event.

The record time for finishing the course is 6d 23h 40m – Chrigel’s 2013 time.

As always, it promises to be an exciting race to watch, with live tracking and plenty of daily updates for internet spectators. Eliminations of the slowest team start on July 5th.
