About Cross Country

Cross Country reflects your passion for free flying. Six magazines are published each year for the global community of pilots who, like you and I, live and breath paragliding and hang gliding.

It’s a bit like a campfire, where we gather to tell tales of the latest far-flung adventures, catch up on the latest gliders, and learn from some of the world’s best how to hone our techniques. The fire was lit in 1988 by Sherry Thevenot and we’ve strived to maintain her values of quality and integrity ever since. Cross Country is now read by pilots in over 75 countries.

The editorial team - Bob Drury and Marcus King - live in the southern French Alps, where year-round thermals and some of the world’s most exciting XC routes keep them buzzing. Meanwhile Verity Sowden and Hugh Miller, the publishing team, are based in slightly more temperate southern England, which can still serve up 100 km XCs on classic days.

Cross Country is published in English, with Japanese and Chinese licensed versions.

XCMedia, the publishing house behind Cross Country, also publishes Paramotor Magazine, the world’s only dedicated paramotoring title. XCMedia is also the world’s major wholesaler of free flying and paramotoring books, DVDs and calendars. We work closely with authors and producers to get their products out as far and wide as possible.

XCTechnical is our new line of specialist innovations, including the XCertina Bag, that we’ve developed in response to the needs of pilots.

Happy Flying,
Hugh Miller
