August 2011 has seen high cloudbases in the Alps. Five pilots top-landed Mont Blanc on Sunday.

Some of the Cross Country team are planning a post-St Hilaire treat: to climb Mont Blanc, the biggest mountain in Western Europe (4,810m), and fly off it. Charlie King is preparing for the off.

British pilot Squash Falconer achieved a lifetime’s ambition in September when she became the first British woman to paraglide from the summit of Mont Blanc, Europe’s highest peak at 4,810 m. Inspired by the Red Bull X-Alps but tailored to a larger number of paraglider pilots, Crossfly’s aim was for pilots to fly the French Alps from the southern Vercors to Mt Blanc, in five days.
