The British Paragliding open in Slovenia is over, with Mark Watts winning on an Ozone Mantra R11.
The fourth task was cancelled before it even began, due to threatening conditions and a bad forecast. The weather then improved as soon as everyone stood down. Safety committee member Mark explains how these difficult decisions are made.
Craig lead the pack from the start, but raced himself to the ground halfway round. Mark Watts won the day.
Despite some worrying incidents elsewhere in the comp and his ongoing concerns with comp wings, Mark has a great day on his serial class wing, and more positives than negatives.

The Slovenia leg of the 2011 British Paragliding Open series takes place in Kobarid from 28 May – 4 June.
xTc, a paragliding and hang gliding adventure centre in Slovenia, have places for pilots wishing to spend up to three months in the Alps improving their flying skills under the guidance of record holder, Brett Janaway.
XRace 2010 is to be held in Tolmin, Slovenia, from 12 – 18 July. The competition will use the AAT (Assignated Area Tasks) system, more commonly seen in gliding competitions, as well as ‘speed run’ tasks.
23-year-old 2007 junior French champion Alexandre Jofresa has won the first round of the British Paragliding Open that was held in Kobarid, Slovenia, from 5 – 12 June. In second place and first Brit was Jamie Messenger.
xTc Paragliding are offering beginner / improver cross country courses from the Tolmin-Kobarid valley, Slovenia. The week of 16 – 23 June British Club Pilots with 25 hours + airtime can work on their BHPA Pilot rating.
Austrian Thomas Weissenberger won the Aeros Winter Race, which took place from 10 – 14 March 2010 in Ajdovscina and Kovk, Slovenia. See the video of the event here.
This year the BHPA will be holding the two legs of the British Open in the Soca valley, Slovenia and St Andre, France in June and September respectively.
