Skywalk’s Join’t 2 is an LTF 1-2 / EN B – certified tandem paraglider.
The company believe that “safety is of the utmost importance when it comes to conveying passengers in the air”, and the Join’t 2 is characterised by “easy launch behaviour and smooth handling”. It uses Skywalk’s Jet Flap technology, whose purpose is to lower the stall speed and to improve behaviour at low speeds.
The Join’t 2’s leading edge is made from robust and durable NCV 9092E85 cloth and its continuous profile-reinforcement bands and hybrid (Tecnora and Dyneema) lines all help to retain the glider’s profile and trim even after intensive use.

Swing say their new tandem paraglider, the Twin 4, is “a real sensation in more than just performance…”
The German manufacturer say it is a pleasure to fly throughout the weight range (they have been test flying it below the minimum value to be certified, to ensure comfort at the bottom), and has ‘almost solo handling’.
The Twin 4 uses HAT (High Arc Technology), has a canopy weight of 8.6kg and is decorated in their new colour scheme, offered in three colour combinations, on the top surface only, leaving the lower clear for sponsorship logos.
The certification procedure is still in progress, but should be complete by the end of February 2010. The Twin 4 has passed load tests with over 2 tonnes, and in individual tests by the DHV for a weight range of 140 – 220 kg using 8cm long trimmers, it received As for all tests except ‘big ears with open trimmers’, where it was given EN B.
RRP excluding VAT will be 3268 €.

Sky Paragliders have enjoyed success with their Metis 2 tandem paraglider which came out in 2008, but have been hassled by professional tandem pilots to create a larger version: so here it is, the 43 m2 version, still certifed LTF 1-2 (EN B).
It is aimed at professional tandem paraglider pilots, and also tandem paramotor and trike pilots.
The flying characteristics of the 43 m2 Metis are the same as the smaller 40 m2 version: Sky say it is “fun to fly, easy to take off, has a great speed range and is very comfortable to land”.

French paraglider manufacturer ITV’s mini paraglider, the Awak, is now available as a tandem.
The 33 m2 canopy has been certified EN B for all-up weights up to 180 kg, and EN C up to 220 kg.
ITV list the features of their mini tandem as “Very easy to inflate, launches same as bigger tandems, excellent performance, very fast, safe in turbulence, easy handling, easy to land”.
RRP is 2850 Euros.

Paratech Pbi6
Paratech have designed their tandem paraglider, the PBi6, for use by recreational tandem pilots as well as professionals who often fly with inexperienced passengers.
Paratech say they have succeeded in further improving the already good launching characteristics of its predecessor, the PBi5. They say the PBi6 “inflates immediately and rises quickly and evenly with no tendency to overshoot, making even the trickiest launches much easier and getting pilot and passenger off the ground without too much awkward running”.
They also say they have optimised the control pressure for tandem use, and the PBi6 offers “the utmost precise and agile handling to guarantee a high level of enjoyment without undue exertion. The glider’s efficient flare capability completes the product”.
The PBi6 is available now in 2 sizes, S (110 – 190 kg) and M (140 – 225 Kg), and three colour combinations.

Pro Design Amiga
Pro Design’s new tandem, the Amiga, is currently undergoing EN and LTF certification testing, which should be complete later this month.
The Amiga has been constructed in collaberation with several tandem pilots, and has been built to withstand thousands of launches without deterioration in its performance. This, plus its weight range of 120 – 220 kg and “balanced handling, moderate brake pressure and stable in-flight characteristics” will make the Amiga, Pro Design say, “the perfect tandem paraglider, especially for professional use”.
Construction-wise, the canopy has line attachements to the ribs on all A- and B- positions, giving the maximum shape retention of the nose section. Spit A-risers facilitate big ears and strong-wind launches and trimmers give the wing a greater speed range.

U-Turn Bodyguard II XL now certified for tandem use
U-Turn have now had their XL Bodyguard II paraglider certified LTF 1 / EN A for solo and tandem use.
Representing, says U-Turn, the ultimate combination of safety and fun, the Bodyguard II incorporates U-Turns’s AFS (Active Flying System), which automatically flies actively for you, to a point. Developed alongside experienced flying instructors it was one of their innovations designed to create the safest glider possible for students to learn on. Despite this, U-Turn say, designer Ernst Strobl has managed to improve the performance and agility of the wing as well.
Thanks to the use of innovative, lighter-weight Porcher cloth on both upper and lower surfaces, the 34.2 m2 canopy only weighs 6 kg. The XL is certified for take-off weights from 120 to 150 kg, and is available in four color combinations.
