Alpen Open 2008
The 19th Alpine International Open took place in the Karwendel mountains above Innsbruck on the weekend of 31st may and 1st June.
The two day competition saw 60 paragliders and more than 70 hang gliders flying tasks of between 35 and 140km.
The top 3 overall in the Class 5 event were Germans, Ralf Miederhoff followed by Tim Grabowski and Norbert Kirchner, all flying Atos VRs. the Austrian Champion was Toni Raumauf, in 5th place overall and also on an Atos VR.
Tom Weissenberger (AT) won the flexwings category, with Walter Meyer (AT) in second and Günther Tschurnig (AT) in third, all on Moyes Litespeeds.
The paraglider trophy was lifted by Austrian Alexander Schalber (Swing) and he was flanked on the podium by fellow countrymen Rudi Untermoser (Airwave) in second, and Gerald Ameseder (UP[) in third.
