Oriol Fernandez (ES) has been confirmed as a Red Bull X-Alps 2011 participant following the withdrawal of his injured compatriot Ramon Morillas.
The 33-year-old from Barcelona will be the 31st athlete to take part in the 864km hiking and paragliding adventure race which begins in Salzburg on 17 July 2011.
Oriol told X-Alps organisers:
“I am really excited to be taking part in the Red Bull X-Alps. I don’t have long to prepare but I will make sure I am as ready as possible for the start in July.”
Oriol is a firefighter from Barcelona with extensive experience paragliding in the Himalayas and the Karakoram. His X-Alps profile is here.
