AirDesign are about to release what they believe to be the most technically advanced glider in the EN B class, with the Rise.
“It’s my philosophy to make gliders which are easily flyable but with top performance“, says Stephan Stiegler, the company’s designer and test pilot.
The Rise was designed for high performance, good safety and comfortable flight behaviour. Its profile is based on that of the EN D Pure. It uses polyamide rods in the leading edge, and mini ribs in the trailing edges to imrpove stability and give the sail a good, clean finish.
The three-line glider uses unsheathed race lines in the middle and upper cascades to reduce drag, and AirDesign say its two-in-one progressive brake line layout improves the Rise’s climb characteristics.
Performance, reinforced 12mm risers with Stubai speed bar pulleys and adjustable brake handles complete the spec.
AD say the Rise is characterised by its easy launch characteristics, confidence-inspiring, precise handling, a wide speed range and high stability in turbulence.
It will be available in five sizes, XS – XL, covering a weight range of 60-145kg. The three colour options are shown below.
